The honest take
At $1,590 versus $1,585, price isn't the deciding factor here, so go on facilities and reliability. Park Hyatt has a proven 9.2 rating over 277 reviews and offers an indoor pool, breakfast and a hot tub, none of which the Waldorf's listing mentions. Waldorf Astoria has only 73 reviews with no aggregate score given, which after its long renovation and reopening is a real unknown. Unless the Art Deco pedigree and Park Avenue address matter more to you than a known quantity, book the Park Hyatt.
The look and the feel
Park Hyatt New York
Park Hyatt New York occupies a slim tower just off Central Park South, its interiors done by Yabu Pushelberg in warm oak, brass and travertine, a lobby that reads more Scandinavian than corporate-American. Light floors, an onyx bar, an indoor pool with a glass wall onto the street below. It draws the discreetly moneyed, media and finance types who want quiet rather than spectacle, and want their gym and their pool without leaving the building.
Guests who want a modern, design-led stay with a working pool and gym and a quieter address near Central Park.
Waldorf Astoria New York
Waldorf Astoria New York on Park Avenue is the great 1931 Art Deco pile, its lobby a set piece of marble, brass grilles and the Wheel of Life mosaic, recently reopened after a multi-year restoration into part hotel, part residences. The rooms are said to carry original architectural details and marble bathrooms, and there's a roof garden and a boutique spa. It draws people who want the name and the history, the sense of arriving somewhere that has hosted a century of state dinners.
Guests drawn to Art Deco grandeur, the Waldorf name, and Park Avenue's address, and willing to book on reputation rather than a large body of recent reviews.
Nothing here is cheaper: at $1,585 the Waldorf is essentially the same price as the Park Hyatt, but its listing shows no pool, no stated breakfast, and no hot tub, and it comes with far fewer guest reviews to judge it by.
The Waldorf's restored Art Deco lobby is the more beautiful room in New York, but the Park Hyatt is the more considered place to actually stay day to day.

Our one-night stay at Park Hyatt New York on July 10, 2026, was the perfect start to a once-in-a-lifetime family trip celebrating a milestone birthday for our son. From New York, we would continue on to Germany, Austria, Jordan, and Egypt, and we wanted the first hotel of the journey to be special. Park Hyatt New York exceeded our expectations in nearly every way.

“Excellent stay and will return”
Excellent visit to the Park Hyatt. This was a new hotel for and we will be returning. The hotel was clean and had a newer feeling. Hallways and doorways were clean and inviting.

As a loyal World of Hyatt Globalist member, I have always regarded Park Hyatt as one of my favorite luxury hotel brands, which is why I had very high expectations for my stay at Park Hyatt New York.
Unfortunately, my stay did not begin as expected. After returning to the hotel in the afternoon, I discovered that my original room had an extremely strong chemical odor, making it uncomfortable to stay inside. After spe
The staff were exceptional and were very helpful throughout my stay. Thank you to Barbara at the front desk and Melanie at the restaurant for going above and beyond for us.
