Privacy Policy
Effective August 2, 2026
HotelDupe ("we", "us") operates hoteldupe.com, a tool that identifies hotels from pasted links and suggests comparable alternatives. This page explains what we collect and what we do with it — in plain language, because there isn't much.
What we collect
- No accounts. You can search, compare and book without telling us who you are. The one place we ask for your details is the creator application form, covered in its own section below.
- Hotel lookups. When you paste a link, we log the hotel name, the source site, and a timestamp so we can see which hotels people search for and improve the product.
- Standard server data. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical request data such as IP address and browser type to serve and secure the site, per their own privacy practices.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and third-party analytics tools to understand how the site is used and to make it better — things like which pages get opened, what's slow, and what breaks. This can include anonymised recordings of on-page activity.
- Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them. Decline and they aren't used.
- We don't use any of it for advertising.
- Clearing this site's cookies in your browser resets your choice.
- Booking and affiliate partners may set their own cookies to attribute a booking you make after clicking a link here.
- When you click through to a booking site, that site's privacy policy applies from that point on.
Creator applications
If you apply to the creator program, that form is the one part of this site that asks who you are. We collect only what you type into it: your name, your email address, the links you choose to share, and whichever platform and audience-size options you pick, plus anything you write in the optional box.
- Why we have it. To decide whether to offer you a code, and to reply to you either way. Nothing else.
- Who sees it. Us. We don't sell it, share it with the hotels, or pass it to any other creator.
- How long we keep it. While we're considering the application, and for as long as you hold a code with us. Applications we don't take forward are deleted once we've replied and a reasonable window to reconsider has passed.
- Marketing. Applying doesn't sign you up to a mailing list. We'll email you about your application, and about your code if you get one.
- Your choice, afterwards. Email hello@hoteldupe.com and we'll send you a copy of what we hold, correct it, or delete it. No form to fill in, no reason needed.
If you hold a code, your creator dashboard shows the value of bookings made with it and what you've earned. It never shows guests' names, contact details or payment details, and we don't give creators any way to reach the people who used their code.
The browser extension
If you install the HotelDupe extension, it decides on your own machine whether the page you are looking at is a hotel, and shows a button. Nothing is sent anywhere until you press it.
- What gets sent, and when. Only the web address of the page you are on, and only at the moment you click. We use it to work out which hotel you are looking at.
- What doesn't. We don't read your browsing history, we don't watch pages you never ask about, and we don't collect anything you type. The extension has no access to your other tabs.
- What we keep. The same thing the website logs: the hotel name and a timestamp, so we know which hotels people look for. Not tied to you.
- Removing it. Uninstalling the extension ends all of it immediately. There is no account to close.
Affiliate disclosure
HotelDupe is an affiliate. When you book through a link on this site, we earn a commission from the booking provider — at no extra cost to you. You pay the same price you would otherwise.
Commission never affects which hotels we show you, how they're ranked, or what we say about them.
Some bookings come to us through creators who post a discount code. They earn a share of what's booked with their code, so their posts are advertising, and we require them to say so. It costs you nothing — the code takes money off your booking rather than adding it.
What we don't do
- We don't sell personal data.
- We don't run third-party advertising networks.
- We don't use analytics data to target advertising, and we don't try to work out who you are from it.
Retention
Lookup logs are kept only as long as they're useful for product analytics, then deleted. Creator applications follow the shorter rule set out above.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. Questions? Email hello@hoteldupe.com.
