The honest take
Both sit on West 57th/Central Park South, essentially the same block of Midtown. Park Hyatt runs $1,590 a night and has an indoor pool and hot tub the Ritz-Carlton lacks; the Ritz-Carlton runs $1,418 and trades those for direct Central Park views and a slightly higher guest rating count difference is negligible at 9.2 versus 9.0. If a swim matters, book the Park Hyatt. If a park view and townhouse styling matter more than a pool, the Ritz-Carlton is $172 cheaper and gets you closer to the trees.
The look and the feel
Park Hyatt New York
Designed by Yabu Pushelberg, the Park Hyatt occupies a 2014 tower and plays it cool and pale: bleached oak, ivory stone, a lobby lounge with a fireplace that reads more Scandinavian retreat than Midtown power hotel. Rooms are quiet and uncluttered, with soaking tubs and a restraint that lets the Central Park and skyline views do the talking. The indoor pool sits high in the building with glass walls onto the skyline, which is the rare Manhattan hotel pool worth mentioning. It draws a moneyed but understated crowd, people who want five-star comfort without gilt.
Guests who want a pool, a calmer Scandinavian-leaning design, and don't mind paying more for it.
The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park
The Ritz-Carlton Central Park leans into old New York: dark wood, brass, richly upholstered lobby seating, a doorman operation that runs on formality. Rooms are done in a townhouse register, warmer and more traditional than the Park Hyatt's cool palette, and the higher floors on the park side give sweeping views over the trees and skyline. The bar and lounge areas feel clubbish rather than serene. It suits a guest who wants the full-service, brass-and-marble version of luxury rather than a minimalist one.
Guests chasing direct Central Park views and a traditional, brass-and-velvet grand-hotel feel at a slightly lower rate.
The Ritz-Carlton, the cheaper of the two, has no indoor pool or hot tub, so anyone wanting to swim has to go elsewhere.
The Park Hyatt is the more beautiful room to sit in, quiet pale materials and a skyline pool that most Manhattan hotels simply don't have.

Our one-night stay at Park Hyatt New York on July 10, 2026, was the perfect start to a once-in-a-lifetime family trip celebrating a milestone birthday for our son. From New York, we would continue on to Germany, Austria, Jordan, and Egypt, and we wanted the first hotel of the journey to be special. Park Hyatt New York exceeded our expectations in nearly every way.
Despite having no Hyatt status, the hotel recognized

“Excellent stay and will return”
Excellent visit to the Park Hyatt. This was a new hotel for and we will be returning. The hotel was clean and had a newer feeling. Hallways and doorways were clean and inviting.

“A true example of excellent service recovery!”
As a loyal World of Hyatt Globalist member, I have always regarded Park Hyatt as one of my favorite luxury hotel brands, which is why I had very high expectations for my stay at Park Hyatt New York.
Unfortunately, my stay did not begin as expected. After returning to the hotel in the afternoon, I discovered that my original room had an extremely strong chemical odor, making it uncomfortable to stay inside. After spe
“Do Not Stay Here - Horrible Service and Outdated Rooms”
I’ve been staying at this hotel consistently for over 20 years. Unfortunately, this hotel has gone downhill fast and cannot compete with other properties (e.g., Baccarat, Four Seasons). Over my last few stays, I’ve experienced many service lapses, but to name a few:
-Club Lounge employee got upset at me and my children, and started talking poorly and bashing their management in front of my family. This all stemmed f

“Oddly Frustrating Stay”
Let's start with the positives: the RC Central Park is impeccably located. Can't do much better than 59th St at 6th Ave. The staff are well trained and courteous, even opening the doors in unison. The hotel feels exclusive and intimate; this is not The Plaza with tourists running around.
However, there are problems. I booked one night at a club level room. At check-in the agent claimed I had not booked a club
