Book the Conrad Istanbul Bosphorus unless money is no object. At $312 against $1,194 a night, and with a higher guest rating from a vastly larger review base (4,788 versus 54), it is the far safer, better-value bet, plus it has a pet policy and a bar the Peninsula's listing does not mention. The Peninsula justifies its price with a new-build luxury shell on the Karakoy waterfront and full spa, indoor and outdoor pools, but at nearly four times the cost for a smaller, less-tested property.

“Great one day stay in Istanbul”
The front desk staff was extremely helpful. We booked two rooms for our family of four. As Diamond members, our rooms were upgraded - one to a suite and one to a sliver Boshporus view. Both were very much appreciated. We did have to request our keys be granted access to the Executive Lounge (that's not automatic). The lounge was excellent. Breakfast was good, but the view is phenomenal. Just be careful sitting out
