Tomtom Suites is the sharper booking for most people: nearly a full point higher on guest rating, at a quarter of the price of the Four Seasons. The Four Seasons earns its $993 with a pool, fitness centre, parking and pet policy that Tomtom simply doesn't offer, plus direct Bosphorus frontage. If you want palace grounds and water at your feet, pay for it; if you want a characterful room and a view over the rooftops for far less, book Tomtom and spend the difference on dinner.
This was once a 19th-century Ottoman palace on the Bosphorus shorefront, and the renovation kept that scale: high ceilings, gilded detailing, marble floors, a garden and terrace running down toward the water. The public rooms have the hush of old money, heavy furnishings, a lobby bar meant for lingering rather than passing through. Rooms lean toward classic luxury hotel furnishing rather than anything eccentric, and the setting does the talking, especially the pool terrace looking straight across the strait.
Travellers who want palace-scale grounds, direct waterfront access, and full resort facilities within the city.
Tomtom sits in a converted building in Galata, a former convent by reputation, on a steep cobbled street in Beyoglu's tangle of hills. The listing points to Carrara marble bathrooms and private spa baths in the rooms, a rooftop terrace with views toward the Marmara and Sultanahmet's skyline, and a restaurant doing a rotating modern Turkish-Mediterranean menu. It reads as intimate rather than grand, the kind of place where the character comes from the building's age and the neighbourhood outside the door rather than manicured grounds.
Travellers who want boutique character, a walkable historic neighbourhood, and top-tier guest ratings without the flagship price.
Tomtom gives up the pool, fitness centre, parking and pet allowance that come with the Four Seasons' larger footprint; what you get instead is a smaller, room-and-rooftop experience in a livelier, hillier part of town.
The Four Seasons is the more spectacular building and setting, an actual Ottoman palace on the water, but Tomtom's rooftop over Galata's rooftops toward Sultanahmet is the more evocative place to actually sit with a drink.

“Such a quiet neighborhood. Staff upgraded our room complimentary and it was a truly lovely stay. Breakfast was top notch.”
Tomtom Suites guests seem to come away happier, praising personal touches and attentive staff repeatedly, while Four Seasons reviews are shorter and more generic despite high scores.

“Just say yes!”
Everything! The staff from reception to the roof top restaurant are very friendly and helpful, great communication even before the checkin. Rooms as they are in the photos and then some. The extra details also turn this place into something special, tips and tea and pillow spray for a goodnight sleep, pillow options, evening music on the TV, bath salts. We had a lovely welcome letter for us as it was an anniversary
