The honest take
Book the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach if value and location matter: it's 462 dollars a night, in a restored Morris Lapidus Art Deco building right at the foot of Lincoln Road, with an 8.6 guest rating from 142 reviews. The St. Regis Bal Harbour runs 975 dollars a night, more than double, and sits ten miles north in Bal Harbour, a quieter, more residential stretch of coast. The St. Regis has the deeper facility list — pet allowance, hot tub, and golf access — plus a much larger spa, so the extra money buys scale and amenity, not just address. If you want walkable nightlife and Deco architecture over resort sprawl, the Ritz-Carlton is the sounder booking at this price gap.
The look and the feel
The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort
Yabu Pushelberg did the interiors here, and it shows in the cool, tonal restraint of the rooms — pale woods, brushed metals, quiet colour, the kind of modern decor that photographs better than it warms a room. The resort itself is a low, sprawling beachfront property in Bal Harbour, built for guests who want acreage: an 11-room, 14,000-square-foot spa with Finnish saunas and steam rooms, multiple restaurants including Atlantikós for Mediterranean food, a wine vault bar with live music. It's the kind of St. Regis that trades street life for private grounds and ocean frontage, aimed at guests who came to Miami to disappear into a resort rather than a neighbourhood.
Guests who want a big, self-contained beach resort with a serious spa and are happy to be away from the city's street life.
The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach
This is a Morris Lapidus building, one of the great Miami Modern architects, sitting at the base of Lincoln Road — so the bones are 1950s glamour, all curves and drama, even where the interiors have been refreshed with Ritz-Carlton's more conventional five-star polish: marble lobby, spa with sauna and outdoor pool, a hair salon, several bars. The location does the real work: guests step out onto Lincoln Road's pedestrian mall and are minutes from the Art Deco Historic District, so the hotel functions as a base for walking South Beach rather than a self-contained resort.
Guests who want Art Deco architecture and walkable South Beach nightlife without resort isolation.
At 462 dollars, the Ritz-Carlton gives up the St. Regis's 14,000-square-foot spa scale, hot tub, golf access, and pet-friendly policy — what remains is a smaller, more conventional five-star offering built around location rather than grounds.
The Ritz-Carlton is the more characterful building to stand in — Lapidus's curved Deco lines have real architectural presence, where the St. Regis's Yabu Pushelberg interiors are handsome but generic resort modernism.

“Awesome service at the beach (St. Regis bal Harbour)”
Emmanuel and Maryna at the beach provided amazing service. Emmanuel was so attentive for making sure we had the perfect beach setup. Maryna was hustling make sure everyone had enough food or drinks in 100 degree weather.

“Perfection”
My very favorite hotel. This was my second stay and it was somehow better than my first stay. The accommodations are perfect, the staff is beyond helpful, and the food is incredible.
The room- generally given a slight upgrade with Marriott status. They have the best pillows I've ever used. In fact, I bought a set for my home because I sleep like a baby whenever I stay at this hotel. The bed is also comfy- firm yet c
The rooms were very clean, and the staff was extremely professional and courteous. The pool and the access to the Miami Beach area are by far the most convenient and relaxing amenities within the property.
