The honest take
Book the Roosevelt if you want New Orleans grandeur without paying top dollar: it's $386 a night against the Windsor Court's $642, and its guest rating and review count reflect a hotel that's been tested by far more travellers. Book the Windsor Court if you want quieter, more consistent luxury and the extra rating points, plus the rooftop and casino access the Roosevelt doesn't have. They're 0.7km apart, both in the CBD, so location isn't the deciding factor here, service level and atmosphere are.
The look and the feel
The Windsor Court
The Windsor Court reads as an English country house transplanted into the Central Business District: dark wood, gilt-framed oil paintings, deep carpets, and an art collection that leans toward British portraiture. The Grill Room is formal in a way New Orleans rarely bothers with anymore, and the Polo Lounge does its live jazz with white tablecloths rather than a stage crowd. It's the kind of hotel where the marble in the bathroom matters as much as the food, and the guests dress for dinner.
Travellers who want old-money quiet, a serious restaurant, and don't mind paying for restraint over spectacle.
The Roosevelt Hotel New Orleans
The Roosevelt occupies a 1893 building reborn under Waldorf Astoria management, and the Sazerac Bar and the Fountain Lounge still carry the brass, terrazzo and gilded-ceiling swagger of old New Orleans hotel culture. The lobby corridor, with its vaulted gold ceiling and chandeliers running the length of the block, is one of the more theatrical arrival sequences in the city. Domenica brings a contemporary Italian energy into that old shell, and the Blue Room's jazz nights pull a livelier, more mixed crowd than a hushed hotel bar.
Travellers who want the theatre of a grand historic lobby and live jazz energy at a lower nightly rate.
At $386 the Roosevelt skips the rooftop and casino access that come with the Windsor Court, and its guest rating sits a point lower, though its review count suggests it's simply seen far more traffic.
The Roosevelt's block-long gilded lobby corridor is the more genuinely spectacular space to walk through, even if the Windsor Court's rooms are the more considered ones to sit still in.

The Windsor Court continues to live up to its standards. It is refreshing to see that in this day in age. The staff is professional and caring. They also seem legitimately happy to work there. The hotel has high standards and is well worth the value.
We will be back a fourth time.
Thank you and keep up the good work.

“One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had.”
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! I stayed with my wife for our anniversary and we both had a wonderful experience. When we left, we felt like we had a peaceful reset from a relaxing vacation. The service is another level and I’ve rarely experienced a service that is so attentive. The room was immaculate and spacious. The restaurant was beautiful and we loved the vibe of the bar when music was playing at night. The only thing to
I don't know what happened with my Christmastime 2025 review, but it never showed up. My husband and I come in to New Orleans a lot from The Mississippi Gulfcoast. My husband is a graduate of Brother Martin H.S., and lived in NOLA so we stay for many functions. He surprised me and booked us at The Roosevelt Christmas 2025. When the doors were thrust open, immediately knew it was going to be quite a magical experience

“Exceptional Stay with One Dining Disappointment”
Our experience at the Roosevelt Hotel was outstanding from the moment we arrived until the moment we reluctantly left. Every staff member treated us with warmth and professionalism, especially Stephen, one of the bellmen, who went above and beyond throughout our stay. He was always courteous, made sure my family never ran out of water, and recommended several restaurants, including Domenica.
Unfortunately, Domenica

“Great Getaway to the Roosevelt Hotel”
We just got back from a one night getaway to the beautiful Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans. The lobby was beautiful, and I had a ball as a history teacher exploring the historical architecture and pieces they had throughout the hotel. The staff were all very friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure all of our needs were met. We stayed in a Luxury King Suite, and it was beyond our expectation. The beds were ex
