The honest take
The Windsor Court is the more refined address, with a spa, casino access and rooftop on top of an outdoor pool and a 4-Diamond restaurant, and its 9.8 rating over 396 reviews backs that up. The InterContinental at $171 a night is under a third of the Windsor Court's $640 and still holds a strong 9.0 across a much larger 2,301 reviews, with its own pool, fitness centre and two restaurants. They sit 0.4km apart in the CBD/St Charles corridor, so location isn't the deciding factor. Book the Windsor Court if you want the more atmospheric, old-money stay and don't mind paying for it; book the InterContinental if you want reliable comfort at a fraction of the cost.
The look and the feel
The Windsor Court
The Windsor Court has always traded on English-country-house fantasy transplanted to the CBD: hushed corridors hung with oil portraits, Italian marble in the bathrooms, chandeliers and dark wood panelling in the public rooms. The Polo Lounge does live jazz over cocktails in a room that feels more London club than Bourbon Street, and Le Salon's afternoon tea leans into the same Anglophile theatricality. It's a hotel built for guests who want New Orleans without the noise of it, a few blocks removed from the Quarter's crush.
Right for a couple or solo traveller who wants a quiet, formal, old-world luxury stay and treats the hotel itself as part of the trip.
InterContinental New Orleans by IHG
The InterContinental is a straightforward big-city business hotel on St Charles Avenue, glass and marble lobby, an outdoor pool and gym, two restaurants (Veranda and SoifFaim) doing regional food and cocktails without much fuss. The rooms are functional rather than characterful, mini bar and cable TV rather than heirloom furniture. It's the kind of place that fills up with conference-goers and casual visitors who want to be near Harrah's and the French Quarter without paying Quarter prices.
Right for the traveller who wants a comfortable, well-located base for exploring the Quarter and casino without paying a premium for atmosphere.
At $171 the InterContinental gives up the spa, casino and rooftop that come with the Windsor Court, along with its more storied restaurant and denser sense of occasion.
The Windsor Court is the more beautiful and characterful place to sit still in, with its marble, jazz and portrait-lined hush; the InterContinental is competent but forgettable by comparison.

The Windsor Court continues to live up to its standards. It is refreshing to see that in this day in age. The staff is professional and caring. They also seem legitimately happy to work there. The hotel has high standards and is well worth the value.
We will be back a fourth time.
Thank you and keep up the good work.

“One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had.”
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! I stayed with my wife for our anniversary and we both had a wonderful experience. When we left, we felt like we had a peaceful reset from a relaxing vacation. The service is another level and I’ve rarely experienced a service that is so attentive. The room was immaculate and spacious. The restaurant was beautiful and we loved the vibe of the bar when music was playing at night. The only thing to

“Good location, comfortable but I’d definitely bring ear plugs”
The hotel is very well located in the CBD of NOLA, the rooms are spacious and comfortable.
I must comment that none of us got a good nights sleep, the noise from the streetcar is not terrible but noticeable but the biggest issue was numerous other guests returning from a night on the town who caused significant noise and disturbance throughout each night.
The bathrooms could do with some significant upgrad
