Sofitel Mexico City Reforma is the clear book: $537 versus $1,505, a higher guest rating on more than five times the reviews, and a facility list that includes a pool, bar, parking and pet allowance that Casa Polanco simply doesn't offer. Casa Polanco is a small boutique house trading on intimacy and a Polanco address, but at nearly triple the price with a fraction of the review base, it needs to be doing something extraordinary to justify itself, and the data doesn't show it. Unless you specifically want a tiny, quiet townhouse-style stay near the Museo Soumaya, Sofitel wins on nearly every measurable point.
Casa Polanco Hotel Boutique
Casa Polanco reads as a converted residential property doing boutique hotel in miniature: a handful of rooms, a terrace, free bikes for pedalling round Polanco's tree-lined streets. The listing leans on words like elegant and modern rather than specifics, so picture minibars, coffee machines, flat-screen TVs and a balcony view rather than any grand architectural statement. It's the kind of place built for guests who want a discreet, almost private address rather than a hotel that announces itself.
Casa Polanco suits someone who wants a small, quiet boutique base in the Polanco museum district and doesn't mind paying a premium for scarcity of rooms.
Sofitel Mexico City Reforma
Sofitel on Paseo de la Reforma sits on Mexico City's great ceremonial boulevard, near the US Embassy and the traffic circles with their monuments, glass towers on one side and the older mansion-lined stretches further along. Expect the brand's usual polish: an indoor pool, a hotel bar that will actually see use in the evenings, a restaurant, and a scale of operation that a boutique house can't match, with 552 reviews to back up the experience rather than 102. It's a big-hotel version of French luxury grafted onto a Mexican boulevard, comfortable and reliable rather than intimate.
Sofitel suits anyone who wants a full-service hotel with a pool, bar and dependable service on Mexico City's main avenue, at under half the price.
At $537, Sofitel gives up nothing measurable and instead adds a pool, bar, parking and pet-friendliness that Casa Polanco lacks entirely; the real trade-off runs the other way, with the pricier Casa Polanco offering less hotel for far more money.
Sofitel Reforma is the more characterful place to actually be, if only because it has a working bar and pool and a boulevard outside worth watching, while Casa Polanco's description offers little beyond a terrace and a balcony view.

“The Sofitel service and standards we’be come to expect, excellent!”
Lovely pool, great breakfast
The rooftop restaurant charges an exorbitant up front fee, and when we didn’t spend it all in the first night refused to give us credit to spend it another day. Not very guest friendly…
This hotel is a quiet, luxurious escape in the middle of the hustle and bustle of wonderful Mexico City. The staff were so warm and friendly, always happy to provide tips on the city. Rooms were immaculately clean and well maintained.
“Best experience in Mexico”
One of the best hotels in town. Location is the best. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. Rodrigo is such a sweet person and Pedro is so helpful. Very accommodating and friendly.
