The honest take
Book the Waldorf Astoria if you want to be in the thick of the Strip with a Michelin-calibre restaurant and a serious spa, for $432 a night. The JW Marriott, out at Rampart Boulevard near Summerlin, is $374 and includes a casino and golf course the Waldorf doesn't have, but you're 13km from the Strip action. Guest ratings are close (8.5 vs 8.3) and both carry good review volumes, so this comes down to location and what kind of holiday you want, not quality.
The look and the feel
Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas
The Waldorf Astoria occupies the top floors of the Waldorf Astoria tower within the CityCenter complex, a non-gaming, adults-oriented address that keeps it hushed compared to its Strip neighbours. The design leans quiet and contemporary: pale stone, glass, restrained metallics, floor-to-ceiling windows pulling in desert light and Strip views from height. Twist by Pierre Gagnaire on the 23rd floor is the real draw for design and food both, all angular chandeliers and mirrored ceilings over French-inflected tasting menus. Sky Bar and the 8th-floor pool terrace with cabanas and plunge pools give it a resort-within-a-tower feel, away from the casino floor noise entirely.
Couples or design-minded travellers who want Strip proximity, a hushed non-gaming tower, and serious fine dining without the casino chaos below.
JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa
The JW Marriott sits out in Summerlin, a low-rise resort spread across landscaped grounds rather than stacked into a tower, with a casino, golf course, and volleyball courts giving it a more sprawling, suburban-resort character. The 11,000-square-foot pool with its waterfall and the Aquae Sulis Spa's 36 treatment rooms (with two-person soaking tubs in guest rooms) point to a place built for lounging by the water rather than looking down at the Strip. Eight restaurants spanning American, Italian, Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine suggest a resort designed to keep guests on property for days at a time.
Golfers, families, and anyone who wants a sprawling resort with a casino and pool grounds and doesn't mind being away from the Strip.
At $374 the JW Marriott saves you $58 a night but sits without a Strip address, trading the Waldorf's tower views and Twist-calibre dining for its own casino and golf course instead — different amenities, not fewer.
The Waldorf Astoria is the more beautiful place to be, its glass tower and restrained, elevated interiors giving genuine architectural presence that the JW Marriott's spread-out resort grounds don't attempt to match.

This was the most seamless hotel stay we have experienced in a long time. Every detail was perfect from check-in to checkout.
It's a beautiful, clean, tranquil place steps away from the casinos and attractions, and everything else Vegas has to offer. But when you return at night, it's quiet. We stayed in a spacious, junior king suite with a city view. It was lovely, with a large bathroom that had a separate shower

“Will definitely consider other hotels next time”
Very Clean. Great location.
Absolutely not flexible on booking cancellation with refund or even reschedule. I had emergency situation- they won’t consider. Pool closes too early, at 6 pm. Additional charge for late check out, additional bed etc. on the top of basic fees.
Great pool and location, comfortable bed and room size

“Unacceptable Housekeeping Standards”
Room **** was not cleaned to an acceptable standard and was not suitable for occupancy upon arrival.
The issues observed included:
Long black hairs in the shower, attached to what appeared to be a hardened substance near the shower exit.
Hair in the bathroom sink.
Dirt and stains in and around the bathtub.
Heavy dust buildup around all light fixtures, particularly the bedside lights.
Carpet that had not been thorough

“Five Star Stay!”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The staff was extremely attentive, professional, and friendly. We were greeted by name each time we arrived and departed from the hotel. The valet staff Paul, and Sam, are five star employees and go over and beyond for their guests. Kevin in The Earl Grey Cafe was excellent also!
