The honest take
Fontainebleau is $381 a night with a 9/10 rating from 4,804 reviews, against Waldorf Astoria's $432 and 8.5/10 from 486 reviews. Waldorf holds two things Fontainebleau doesn't: breakfast and a hot tub, part of its 27,000 sq ft spa terrace with plunge pools and cabanas. Fontainebleau counters with a casino and rooftop, and simply gets reviewed far more often and more favourably. For most visitors chasing Strip energy and value, Fontainebleau is the booking; for those who want quiet, spa-led calm above the fray, Waldorf earns its premium.
The look and the feel
Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas
Waldorf Astoria sits at the quiet south end of the Strip, deliberately removed from casino noise since it's one of the few Strip hotels with no gaming floor at all. The tower reads more like a residential high-rise than a resort, all glass and restrained interiors, with Pierre Gagnaire's modern French fusion at Twist and a Sky Bar with wraparound views. The eighth-floor terrace with its lap pools, plunge pool, and cabanas is the heart of the place, along with a proper spa built for actual pampering rather than a quick massage between shows. It draws an older, calmer, often business or wellness-focused guest who wants the Strip's location without the Strip's chaos.
Waldorf Astoria suits travellers who want Strip proximity but prefer spa mornings and quiet evenings over slot machines and crowds.
Fontainebleau Las Vegas, MICHELIN Key Award Hotel
Fontainebleau brings its Miami DNA to the desert: the original Morris Lapidus name reborn here as a 67-storey tower with a curved glass facade and a lobby built for spectacle, all high ceilings, warm stone, and a scale meant to be photographed. It has the full Vegas arsenal, a working casino floor, a rooftop scene, an outdoor pool, and multiple dining and bar concepts, positioning it as an all-in-one entertainment hub near the Convention Center. The nearly 5,000 reviews and 9/10 rating suggest it delivers consistently on the buzz, drawing a younger, more nightlife-driven, convention and entertainment crowd.
Fontainebleau suits guests who want the casino, the rooftop, and the full Vegas entertainment circuit within one building.
Choosing Fontainebleau over Waldorf means giving up included breakfast and the hot tub terrace that anchors Waldorf's spa experience.
Fontainebleau is the more striking building to walk into, its Lapidus-lineage curves and grand lobby scale giving it real architectural presence that Waldorf's more corporate glass tower doesn't match.

This was the most seamless hotel stay we have experienced in a long time. Every detail was perfect from check-in to checkout.
It's a beautiful, clean, tranquil place steps away from the casinos and attractions, and everything else Vegas has to offer. But when you return at night, it's quiet. We stayed in a spacious, junior king suite with a city view. It was lovely, with a large bathroom that had a separate shower

“Will definitely consider other hotels next time”
Very Clean. Great location.
Absolutely not flexible on booking cancellation with refund or even reschedule. I had emergency situation- they won’t consider. Pool closes too early, at 6 pm. Additional charge for late check out, additional bed etc. on the top of basic fees.
The hotel was beautiful, the room was well appointed and comfortable.
My only complaint was that this is Vegas. We got there at 9pm and by the time we got checked in and were ready for dinner, all restaurants were closed except for the grab and go one.

“Very rude stuff that doesn’t solve any issues you might have”
The property is new. So it was clean and smelled good. But there were a couple of things that spoiled all the impression.
The pool didn’t have enough shade. Water in the pool was too cold. Even with extreme heat outside the difference in temperatures was unbearable.
Stuff is very rude. It takes an out for them to answer your request. They talk to you in a dismissive and disrespectful manner. We had 50$ credit for the food. They didn’t e
