The honest take

Book the Bellagio if the Strip's theatrical side matters to you: at $433 a night it costs more, but it has the fountains, the botanical conservatory, breakfast and golf that Conrad lacks. Book the Conrad if you want a newer, larger resort at $349 with more dining and pool variety, and don't mind trading the Bellagio's specific spectacle for Resorts World's sheer scale. Guest ratings are close (8.7 vs 8.6), so this is really a question of what kind of Strip experience you want, not quality.

The look and the feel

Bellagio

The Bellagio opened in 1998, modelled loosely on the lakeside town on Lake Como, and its lobby ceiling is the Chihuly glass sculpture, hundreds of hand-blown flowers in reds and yellows hanging over the check-in desk. The Conservatory & Botanical Garden just past it is replanted five times a year with a full seasonal display, and the whole hotel is built around the eight-and-a-half-acre lake where the fountains perform choreographed shows against the Strip skyline. Rooms are done in warm marble bathrooms and a fairly traditional, slightly dated luxury register - heavy drapes, iPod docks rather than anything cutting-edge - but the public spaces are the point: Sadelle's, Prime Steakhouse, the botanical corridors, the five courtyard pools. It draws people who came for the spectacle as much as the room.

People who want the classic Strip set-piece - the fountains, the conservatory, the old-school glamour - and don't mind paying for it.

Conrad Las Vegas At Resorts World

Conrad Las Vegas sits inside Resorts World, a 2021 addition to the Strip, and the interiors lean contemporary corporate-luxury: bold colour blocking, mixed metal and organic textures, a design brief aimed at what the listing calls the entrepreneurial traveller. The scale is the real story - a 100,000-square-foot casino, nearly 30 retail outlets, over 40 restaurants and bars, and seven pools including one for families - all inside a resort built fresh rather than renovated over decades. Rooms are a generous 550 square feet with an entertainment wall and minibar, comfortable and current rather than characterful. It's a hotel built for volume and convenience rather than atmosphere.

People who want a newer, bigger resort with more restaurants and pools to choose from, at a lower nightly rate.

At $349 the Conrad is $84 cheaper per night but has no breakfast included and no golf access, both of which come with the Bellagio.

The Bellagio is the more beautiful place to stand in - the Chihuly ceiling, the conservatory, the lake and fountains give it a sense of theatre that a newer, competently designed resort like the Conrad simply hasn't had time or intention to build.

“Winderful except for the permeating smoke smell”

Beautiful bathroom

The AC brings upstairs the air smelling if cigarettes. It’s very noticeable and not a good feature.
