Book the Island Shangri-La unless you specifically want to be above the clouds. It's $143 cheaper a night, rated nearly as high with fewer but still substantial reviews, and gives up nothing the Ritz-Carlton has except a rooftop and hot tub. This is the hotel occupying the top floors of the ICC, one of the tallest buildings on earth, so the defining fact of the place is vertigo. Rooms from the 102nd to 118th floors turn Victoria Harbour into a toy model far below, and the public spaces are built around that view: glass walls, low dark furniture that doesn't compete with the skyline, an infinity pool on the 118th floor that feels like swimming off the edge of the city. The Ritz-Carlton house style is present but restrained here, more about framing the window than filling the room. Island Shangri-La

The guestrooms were redone by Tristan Auer, and it shows in the details the listing calls out: day beds, bespoke in-room pantries, a calmer Franco-Asian palette than the usual Shangri-La brocade. The atrium here is famous in its own right, an eleven-storey rise hung with a vast Chinese landscape painting, one of the largest of its kind, which gives the lobby a sense of ceremony without needing a view to do it. It suits guests who want a five-star base for shopping and business in Admiralty rather than a tower-top event.

“Great afternoon tea”
This was my first time here. The view was amazing, the tea was excellent and I loved the Earl Grey so much I wanted to buy some to take home. The pastries were also delicious and generous in portion size. The staff (especially Mr. Freeman) was lovely and very polite, and even offered complimentary treats. I was impressed with everything. I had a wonderful time and will definitely return.

The location of the lobby is a tad inconvenient when coming from the MTR - have to take lifts within pacific place mall up to level 5 then take another escalator/lift up to level 6 where the lobby is. Also the bathroom was slightly old, bath tub and shower curtain kind instead of an isolated shower cubicle so water goe
