Book the Ritz-Carlton if you want the world's highest hotel experience, two Michelin-starred restaurants and a rooftop bar, all for less money and with a guest-rating and review base (9.8, 1,344 reviews) that dwarfs the Landmark's. Book the Landmark Mandarin Oriental if you'd rather be on Hong Kong Island, footsteps from Lan Kwai Fong and the Peak Tram, in a smaller, design-led hotel with only 111 rooms. At $632 versus $762 a night, the Ritz is both cheaper and, on paper, better equipped, with a hot tub and rooftop the Landmark lacks. The two sit 2.6km apart across the harbour, which for most visitors means picking Central nightlife versus Kowloon views.
The Landmark Mandarin Oriental
The Landmark Mandarin Oriental occupies part of the Landmark shopping complex in Central, and its interiors, done by André Fu, lean toward warm minimalism: dark timber, bronze fittings, low lighting, a lobby that feels more private club than hotel arrival hall. Rooms are famous for their oversized bathtubs set right in the room, and the whole place has a hushed, tailored quality suited to guests who want discretion over spectacle. MO Bar downstairs is a long-running scene for Central's finance crowd after work. It's an intimate hotel, and it reads as such against the tower next door.
Guests who want to be embedded in Central's streets and nightlife, in a smaller, more design-conscious hotel.
The Ritz-Carlton
The Ritz-Carlton occupies the upper third of the International Commerce Centre, one of the world's tallest buildings, with the hotel lobby itself on the 103rd floor and rooms running to 118. The design is glossy, high-shine, contemporary Chinese luxury — lots of glass, lacquer and long views over Victoria Harbour that no room-level hotel in Hong Kong can match. Ozone, the rooftop bar on 118, is the calling card: floor-to-ceiling glass and a skyline that makes conversation redundant. It's a hotel built around the view, not the street, and it draws a crowd that wants the photograph as much as the stay.
Guests chasing the highest hotel views in the world, serious restaurants, and a rooftop bar, at a lower nightly rate.
The Landmark, for its higher price, gives up the Ritz's hot tub and rooftop bar entirely — there's no equivalent altitude or skyline amenity on Hong Kong Island.
The Ritz-Carlton is the more spectacular place to be, simply because nothing else in the world puts you this high above a harbour this dramatic; the Landmark is the more beautifully designed room-by-room, but it can't out-view a building that touches the clouds.

“During at the highest bar in the world.”
We had four of their delicious cocktails. Great experience. Norween was very kind and helpful.
“Summer Drinks at Ozone”
Lovely cocktails with a great service and friendly staff, Norween was extremely friendly.
“Great afternoon tea”
This was my first time here. The view was amazing, the tea was excellent and I loved the Earl Grey so much I wanted to buy some to take home. The pastries were also delicious and generous in portion size. The staff (especially Mr. Freeman) was lovely and very polite, and even offered complimentary treats. I was impressed with everything. I had a wonderful time and will definitely return.
