The honest take
Both are five-star Right Bank addresses within a fifteen-minute walk of each other, but the Prince de Galles at $3,043 a night is almost three times the Sofitel Le Faubourg's $1,103. The Prince de Galles edges it on guest rating, 9.2 against 9.0, though the Sofitel has more than triple the reviews behind that score. Neither listing shows the other lacking a specific facility, so the gap is really about scale, pedigree of address and the intensity of the Art Deco set-piece you're paying for. Book the Sofitel unless the Prince de Galles' particular history and Avenue George V position matter to you specifically.
The look and the feel
Prince de Galles
The Prince de Galles opened in 1928 and still wears its Art Deco bones: a mosaic-tiled courtyard, a curved marble staircase, the kind of gilt and lacquer detailing that survived a Most-Historic-Hotels-style restoration under the Marriott Luxury Collection banner. Avenue George V puts you between the Champs-Élysées and the Seine, in the most moneyed stretch of the 8th arrondissement, with the George V and Plaza Athénée as literal neighbours. The lobby bar has the hush of old money rather than the buzz of a scene, and the crowd is older, quieter, expecting to be recognised by name.
An older, moneyed traveller who wants Art Deco pedigree and the specific cachet of Avenue George V.
Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg
The Sofitel Le Faubourg sits on Rue Boissy d'Anglas near Place de la Concorde and the Madeleine, a former haute-couture house turned hotel, which explains the
Someone who wants a genuinely well-designed five-star Paris stay, spa included, without paying near-triple for the address.
On paper neither listing names a facility the other lacks, so what the Sofitel gives up is scale of legend and the exact Avenue George V postcode, not amenities.
The Prince de Galles is the more beautiful room to sit in, an intact 1928 set rather than a couture-branded reinvention, but that difference is aesthetic pedigree, not comfort.

“Este hotel no debería ser 5 estrellas.”
Prince de Galles guests come away happier, as they consistently praise the service and accommodations despite a few staffing and check-in complaints, while Sofitel guests repeatedly criticise dated, cramped rooms that they feel do not match the price.
4 night stay in August. Excellent customer service, including at reception, concierge, and bellhop. We don't usually use concierge at hotels but they were extremely helpful in quickly arranging tickets for us to sold out tourist attractions. Small room but comfortable bed and clean bed. Only downside was not having my Marriot nightly upgrade award honored, even though the Marriott app showed availability in highe

“I guess it’s our first and last time there!”
I guess we are used to different kind of service in Paris. The location is good, the hotel offers reasonable rooms but overall service needs huge improvement. The concierge needs proper staffing, the reception needs proper staffing, the only place that has good staffing is the restaurant. The hotel as is the case with many hotels in Paris is quite old but the rooms relatively ok apart from the bathroom in the suite
